FindMyPast has put online two and a half million records from the British Library’s India Office Records collection, reports Who Do you Think You Are magazine.
These would appear to be under (or connected with) Travel and Migration on the current FMP site – a new version is due soon. One of the things that is on the wish-list for FMP improvement is flagging up new record sets more consistently and clarity on what they contain.
The specific FMP India Office birth and baptisms search page also has links to marriages, pensions, probate sections too. The one birth search result found for the family (Bernard John May) is only a transcription (no image), and actually contains no useful information other than place of birth. Hopefully this is an exception. Certainly the WDYTYA editor had better luck.
New – Research news
This is an initial post on a new trial section for Cutlock & Co – Research News. It has its own news page, so items won’t disrupt the home page flow, but site subscribers will still get notifications.
